Chronic Pain Programme

Chronic Pain Programme

a 5-week online programme for people living with chronic pain

Understanding your pain. Finding ways to work with it. Making changes that last.

Living with chronic pain affects much more than the part of the body that hurts.

Pain can influence how we move, sleep, work, feel and participate in everyday life. Over time, it can also change our relationship with our own body.

THIS FIVE-WEEK PROGRAMME OFFERS A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO UNDERSTANDING AND WORKING WITH CHRONIC PAIN THROUGH MUSIC THERAPY, VOICE THERAPY AND THERAPEUTIC MOVEMENT.

• No musical, vocal or movement experience is needed •

The aim is to develop a greater awareness of your individual pain situation, understand the connections that influence it, and find practical ways to manage and potentially relieve pain.

Through individual work, shared group experiences and exercises integrated into daily life, the programme supports you in making changes that can continue beyond the five weeks.

Designed to fit into your life

Making changes while living with chronic pain takes time, attention and often considerable effort. But not everyone has the possibility to step away from work, family or everyday responsibilities to attend an intensive rehabilitation programme.

The Chronic Pain Programme is designed to make therapeutic work accessible within your existing life. With two online sessions per week, it offers continuous individual and group support while leaving room for your everyday commitments.

Rather than separating the therapeutic process from daily life, we work with both together. You can explore and apply what you learn in your own environment, reflect on your experiences and gradually develop changes that are realistic and sustainable for you.

How we work

Chronic pain is different for everyone. Its causes, patterns and effects vary, as do the things that help. Rather than following the same exercises for every participant, we begin by looking closely at your individual situation.

Through Music Therapy, Voice Therapy and Therapeutic Movement, we explore how your body responds to movement, sound, voice and how they become tools for you.

These methods offer opportunities to work with physical tension, body awareness, emotional processes and the ways pain influences everyday activities.

The programme combines therapeutic experiences with reflection, practical exercises and the development of individual strategies.

The intention is not only to understand your pain better, but to use that understanding to make meaningful changes in how you live.

No musical, vocal or movement experience is required.

Individual work & group sessions

A central part of the programme is the combination of personal 1:1 sessions and shared group sessions.

Individual sessions

Your first individual session takes place before the group programme begins. During this initial session, we take time to understand your personal pain history, current situation, difficulties and needs. This forms the basis for the process together.

Throughout the programme, you receive one individual session each week. These sessions allow us to work specifically with your own experiences, explore what may be contributing to your difficulties and develop exercises and approaches suited to you.

We can also look at how the work is affecting your everyday life and adapt it as your understanding and needs develop.

Group sessions

Living with chronic pain can be isolating. Other people may not understand what it means to live with persistent pain, particularly when its effects are not visible.

The weekly group sessions bring together people who share this experience, even though their individual pain situations may be very different. Alongside therapeutic exercises with music, voice and movement, there is time to exchange experiences, share difficulties or what has been helpful and learn from one another.

The group offers an opportunity for mutual understanding and support, while each participant continues to work with their own situation.

The five weeks

Each week follows a different theme. Together, they form a process that moves from awareness and understanding towards practical work, integration and longer-term change.

Week 1 — Awareness

Getting to know your pain

We begin by exploring your relationship with your body and your individual experience of pain. Through guided awareness exercises, music, voice and gentle movement, we observe physical sensations, reactions and patterns.

What do you notice? When does your pain change? How does your body respond to different activities, situations or emotional states?

The first step is to become more familiar with what is happening.

Week 2 — Understanding

Exploring the connections

Pain does not exist separately from the rest of our lives.

This week, we explore possible connections between physical sensations, movement, emotions, stress, habits and everyday experiences.

We look at how these factors may influence your individual pain situation and how greater understanding can help you recognise patterns and respond differently.

Week 3 — Working with it

Finding what helps

With a better understanding of your personal situation, we begin working more specifically with therapeutic exercises and methods.

Music Therapy, Voice Therapy and Therapeutic Movement offer different possibilities for working with physical tension, emotional processes, and body awareness.

The focus is on discovering which approaches are helpful for you, how to use them and how they may support pain management and relief.

Week 4 — Integration

Bringing the work into everyday life

What happens during a session is important. What happens afterwards matters just as much.

This week, we focus on bringing the exercises, experiences and insights into your daily routine. We explore practical changes in habits, movement and everyday activities, while paying attention to what is realistic and helpful in your personal circumstances.

There is also time to exchange experiences about what has worked, what has been difficult and what may need to change.

Week 5 — Change

Continuing beyond the programme

In the final week, we look at what has changed during the programme and what you want to continue developing or which further actions might be helpful for you to look into.

Together, we identify the exercises, methods and everyday adjustments that have been most helpful for you. Through your individual work, you develop a personal plan that brings these elements together and gives you something concrete to continue working with after the programme.

The intention is to leave with greater understanding, practical tools and a clearer sense of how to support yourself in the longer term.

Beyond the sessions

The programme is designed as an active process.

Between sessions, you will have opportunities to practise exercises, observe your experiences and try out changes in your everyday life. The aim is not simply to learn exercises, but to discover how they can become useful parts of your life.

These are adapted to your individual situation and physical possibilities.

You do not need previous experience with music, singing or movement practices.

What matters is your willingness to explore your situation and participate in the process at a pace that works for you.

By the end of the programme, you will have developed a personal plan with methods, exercises and approaches that you can continue using independently.
